Bechem United, a Ghana Premier League club, has announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for the death of Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis ‘Nana Pooley.’
Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed following Kotoko’s 0-1 loss to Nsoatreman in Nsoatre during matchday 19 of the league. His family and Kotoko officials have been vocal in demanding justice, with police investigations currently underway.
Bechem United’s decision to offer the bounty is fueled by rising security concerns, including threats to their team doctor, Dr. Achau. His family has even advised him against traveling for away matches due to safety fears.
Earlier, Asante Kotoko’s spokesperson, Lawyer Samuel Sarfo Duku, stated after a court hearing that the police had identified the suspect as Brimah, who remains at large.
Bechem United hopes their financial incentive will encourage individuals to come forward with valuable information to aid law enforcement efforts.
Meanwhile, Kotoko’s first team is set to resume training on Wednesday, February 19, though they have no immediate plans to participate in competitive matches.
