The Bawku Naba, Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for his recent visit to Bawku, describing it as a meaningful gesture of the police administration’s commitment to peace, justice, and community engagement.
The Kusaug Traditional Council, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr. David Adoliba, said the IGP’s presence in the conflict-hit area demonstrated transparency and a willingness to address long-standing security concerns. The visit follows renewed disturbances in the area that left one person dead and several injured.
The Council praised the IGP for engaging directly with traditional leaders and assuring a full-scale investigation into the violence. According to the statement, the gesture aligns with the Council’s values of accountability, unity, and development.
“We urge the youth to remain calm, avoid acts of provocation, and trust the ongoing processes of justice and reconciliation,” the Council said.
The Bawku Naba, a long-standing advocate for peace and dialogue, reiterated his call for cooperation among stakeholders in the region. He emphasized that a united front is essential to resolving the area’s conflicts and unlocking its development potential.
The Kusaug Traditional Council also appealed for the full resumption of police duties in the area. It called on the IGP to direct the Divisional Police Command to deploy officers back to Kusaug to maintain law and order.
