The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has introduced the Ghana Gold Coin (GGC), providing a novel investment option for Ghanaians while enhancing the nation’s financial instruments portfolio.

Launched on November 26, 2024, the GGC is available in three denominations: 1.00 oz at GH₵45,020.48, 0.50 oz at GH₵22,409.74, and 0.25 oz at GH₵11,188.12. The prices are pegged to the previous day’s London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) PM gold price of $2,635.40 and an exchange rate of 15.7500 Ghana cedis per dollar.

This initiative forms part of the central bank’s domestic gold programme aimed at absorbing excess liquidity and stabilizing the cedi against foreign currencies. The coin also aligns with the Bank’s strategy to promote investment in Ghana’s gold reserves, offering citizens a secure and innovative financial instrument.
