Ashanti Region: Over 40 Cameroonians Arrested for Internet Fraud, Human Trafficking

‎The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 29-year-old Cameroonian, Bella Merie, along with 43 others from her home country, for alleged involvement in internet fraud and human trafficking.

‎The arrests took place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem, Ashanti Region.

‎According to a statement from Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect defrauded victims of approximately 4.5 million CFA Francs under the guise of offering job opportunities in Ghana.

‎The victims—32 males and 11 females—were lured through a well-known internet scam method called Q-NET.

‎All individuals, aged between 22 and 38, have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further processing and repatriation.

‎The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring the safety of both citizens and foreign nationals in the country.
