The Asante Youth Association has urged President John Dramani Mahama to reverse the dismissal of Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah as Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), warning that the move could derail the ongoing ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’ project led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, the group’s Vice President, Nana Oppong Boadi, stressed that the healthcare sector should not be politicised and described Dr. Addai-Mensah as a professional whose leadership has significantly impacted the hospital.

They also called on the hospital’s board to suspend the inauguration of the newly appointed CEO, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, and claimed the president might not be fully aware of the implications of the decision, which they believe is being driven by political elements within government.
