Asante Kotoko returned to training on February 19 at Adako Jachie, marking their first session since the Ghana Premier League (GPL) was suspended following the tragic passing of a devoted fan, Francis Frimpong, known as Nana Pooley.
Head coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum led the session, focusing on maintaining the team’s fitness as they await the league’s resumption. A total of 20 players actively participated in the training, including notable figures such as Fredrick Asare, Mohammed Camara, Fatao Siedu, and Benjamin Twum.

Additionally, Samba O’Neil, Wisdom Fernando, Peter Amidu Acquah, Lord Amoah, and Kwesi Asante were present but did not take part in the training session.
The Porcupines will continue their preparations to ensure the squad remains in top form ahead of the league’s restart. The GPL was suspended after the unfortunate death of Nana Pooley during Kotoko’s matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC at Nana Kronmansah Park.
Earlier on Tuesday, Asante Kotoko reiterated their decision to refrain from participating in football activities in Ghana, maintaining their stance as they await further discussions. Meanwhile, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku is set to meet the team in Kumasi on Thursday for further deliberations.
