In the wake of the Black Stars’ unexpected early exit from the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote D’Ivoire, legendary former captain Asamoah Gyan has taken to his Twitter handle to share a cryptic video that has sparked a wave of reactions among netizens.

Gyan, who led the Black Stars through various tournaments, posted a video portraying a large stone rolling down a hill towards a mansion. The stone was halted by a savior, but in the attempt to be the hero, a part of the mansion was accidentally touched, causing its collapse. Subsequently, the stone was left to run down the hill, destroying the entire mansion. The caption at the end of the video reads, “Lesson learned: be grateful and appreciate those around you.”

The video has triggered diverse reactions from fans, with some expressing disappointment and others interpreting it as a commentary on the current state of the Black Stars. Netizens have decoded the cryptic message, prompting a flurry of comments on social media.

One Twitter user remarked, “It’s like you want the team to fail so bad so that you can make a statement. You are a legend. Stop disrespecting yourself with these useless shades.”

Another user reminisced about Gyan’s era, stating, “In your era, you fought with blood and sweat for the badge. We supported wholeheartedly, even through disappointments. Don’t ever forget that.”

However, amidst the mixed reactions, some fans provided constructive criticism regarding the team’s recent performance. One comment highlighted concerns about the changes made during matches and criticized the goalkeeper’s lack of confidence. The comment read, “But truth to be told, the boys force some changes, and the keeper caused the defeat because they weren’t communicating well.”

Yet, some fans defended Gyan against what they perceived as unwarranted criticism. One user urged, “Asamoah Gyan, this is not needed. We were only making fun of your penalty. Yes, Ghana is performing badly, but that doesn’t give you the opportunity to drag our lovely team. Don’t be a scandalmonger.”

Reflecting on Gyan’s impactful career, another fan acknowledged his contributions but didn’t shy away from pointing out a pivotal moment. “Finding another lethal and decisive striker like you is gonna be tough for the Black Stars, but let’s be honest, that penalty you missed caused more havoc than that small building in the video.”
