Armed Intruders Apprehended After Storming TV Studio During Live Broadcast in Ecuador

Authorities in Ecuador have detained 13 masked individuals who forcibly entered a television studio during a live broadcast in Guayaquil. The armed intruders, carrying guns and what seemed to be explosives, disrupted a live news program broadcasted nationwide. This incident occurred on January 9, 2024, following President Daniel Noboa’s declaration of an “internal armed conflict.”

Despite the intrusion and reported gunshots in the background, no casualties were reported as the intruders held news anchors hostage on set. Police commander César Zapata confirmed the arrest of the individuals, stating that authorities confiscated the weapons and explosives they were carrying. A total of 13 people were taken into custody.
