Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has taken a swipe at former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, calling on him to apologize to Ghanaians for denying that his administration implemented the betting tax. The artist also released a new song titled “Betting Tax”, addressing the frustrations of many young people affected by the tax.

The controversy started after the current Finance Minister, under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, announced in the 2025 budget that the betting tax would be abolished. However, Dr. Amin Adam, who served under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, responded by claiming that his administration never implemented the tax.

This statement sparked public outrage, as many Ghanaians recall that the betting tax was indeed enforced under the previous NPP government, despite the former minister’s claims. Shatta Wale, known for his fearless criticism of politicians, took to social media to mock Amin Adam’s comments.

“Just apologize to Ghanaians, otherwise your ‘We’ party will wee wee, and we will not vote for you again,” Shatta Wale warned.
