Ama Governor has Finally Been Called to the Bar

Ama Governor, a YouTuber and social media influencer, has received a significant opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer, thanks to the General Legal Council. Earlier this year, Ama Governor faced disappointment when she was excluded from the list of lawyers called to the Bar, despite successfully completing her studies. This exclusion was the result of an anonymous complaint to the General Legal Council, questioning her suitability due to alleged misconduct.

However, in a recent announcement, the General Legal Council disclosed that Ama Governor, also known as Elorm Ababio, can now apply to be called to the Bar in October/November 2023. The Council emphasized that it will closely monitor her conduct in the period leading up to her application submission.

Furthermore, should Ama Governor’s application be approved, she will be required to commit to upholding good behavior and avoiding any actions that could tarnish the legal profession’s reputation.

Here’s an excerpt from the General Legal Council’s report for the 2022/23 legal year:

“On November 1, 2022, the Council received a complaint of misconduct against one of the students, alleging that the student had been observed in widely circulated videos engaging in conduct deemed inappropriate for a Bar applicant. Subsequently, a committee was formed to investigate this complaint and submit its findings to the Council. After careful consideration of the committee’s report, the Council decided to allow the student to complete the necessary application forms for admission to the Bar in October/November 2023. During this period, the Council will closely monitor the student’s behavior. Additionally, the Council stipulated that if the application is successful, the student must commit to maintaining good conduct and avoiding actions that could harm the reputation of the legal profession in Ghana. The student was informed of these decisions through a letter from the Council.”
