Alan’s Withdrawal Won’t Impact NPP Votes in 2024 Election – Richard Ahiagbah

In a recent interview on GTV’s breakfast show, Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), addressed concerns regarding the resignation of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen from the party and its potential impact on the upcoming December 2024 election.

Ahiagbah acknowledged that Alan Kyerematen’s departure would result in the loss of his individual vote but stressed that it would not significantly affect the NPP’s overall support. He assured the public that the party’s strength remained intact and that the exit of a prominent figure like Alan would not lead to a mass defection of voters.

Expressing disappointment at Alan Kyerematen’s decision to resign, Ahiagbah emphasized the importance of unity within the party during this critical juncture leading up to the upcoming election. Despite this setback, he expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to secure votes and emerge victorious.

Regarding rumors of Alan’s intention to establish his own political party, Ahiagbah suggested that Alan might be aware of the historical challenges faced by individuals who have embarked on such a path and failed to achieve their political goals. This awareness could have played a role in Alan’s decision-making process.

Ahiagbah further highlighted the significance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing a political party. He pointed out that Ghanaians consider loyalty to a group and commitment to its principles and values as forms of self-determination and leadership. Departing from a party due to disagreements with its rules could be perceived as an act of betrayal by the electorate.

The NPP Director’s comments come as the party prepares for the December 2024 election, aiming to maintain its political influence and secure another term in office. While Alan Kyerematen’s resignation is undoubtedly a setback, the NPP remains determined to rally its supporters and present a strong candidate for the upcoming election.

As the political landscape in Ghana continues to evolve, the NPP’s ability to navigate challenges and maintain its voter base will play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the 2024 election.
