Africa’s Popular YouTuber Wode Maya Joins BuzstopBoys to Clean up the Streets of Accra

Popular Ghanaian YouTuber, Berthold Kobina Ackon, widely known as Wode Maya, joined the BuzstopBoys on Friday, March 28, 2025, for a cleanup exercise at Okponglo, Accra. The initiative aimed at clearing gutters and addressing sanitation issues contributing to flooding in the area.

The cleanup, organized by BuzstopBoys, a non-profit environmental group, attracted volunteers from different backgrounds, including professionals and students. Speaking to GHArticles CEO, Ishew Charway, Wode Maya emphasized the importance of collective action in keeping Ghana clean.

“I have been following from afar, and I have been with them a couple of times. It’s something I do behind the scenes to support the country. No one will clean Ghana for us; we must do it ourselves,” he stated.

He further encouraged Ghanaians to join the upcoming cleanup exercise on Monday, where he will personally participate. In a show of support, he promised free advertising for restaurants that provide food to volunteers.

BuzstopBoys, founded in July 2023 by civil engineer Mr. Safo, has grown from a seven-member team to a movement of over 50 dedicated individuals, including midwives, carpenters, and military officers. The group is committed to tackling Ghana’s environmental challenges through clean-up drives, tree-planting campaigns, and educational programs.
