Bawumia Inaugurates 124 Homes in Appiatse Reconstruction Project

In response to the tragic events of January 2022, where 16 lives were lost and the community of Appiatse was devastated, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has commissioned 124 homes as part of the Appiatse reconstruction project. The beneficiaries of phases one and two of the project expressed their gratitude, highlighting their satisfaction with the outcome.

Located between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, Appiatse has undergone a remarkable transformation. The completion of over 120 housing units signifies a new beginning for the farming community, marking a significant milestone two years after the disaster.

The reconstruction project was initiated after a vehicle carrying approximately 10 tonnes of mining explosives to the Chirano Mines collided with a motorcycle, resulting in a detonation that destroyed the entire community. The government promptly commenced the reconstruction process, which has now culminated in the completion of 124 housing units and auxiliary facilities for the survivors.
