The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed disappointment with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for its report clearing Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng of allegations of holding a double identity.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Monday, November 25, Mr. Ablakwa accused CHRAJ of failing to thoroughly investigate the evidence he submitted, including a driver’s license and Ghana Card.
“My petition succeeded in a larger part regarding procurement breaches and corruption-related offenses. However, on the conflict of interest allegations against Rev. Kusi Boateng, CHRAJ failed to confirm the allegations despite the substantial evidence I submitted,” Mr. Ablakwa stated.
The lawmaker argued that CHRAJ had “only scratched the surface” of the double identity allegations, focusing solely on passport records and disregarding other critical identification documents.
CHRAJ’s report acknowledged that Rev. Kusi Boateng was appointed to the National Cathedral Board under that name while holding a diplomatic passport issued in the name of Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. However, it concluded that he holds only one passport, under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, and none as Kusi Boateng.
Mr. Ablakwa contended that CHRAJ ignored critical evidence he provided in January 2023, which included a driver’s license and Ghana Card under the name Kusi Boateng. “CHRAJ’s findings relied solely on passport documentation and ignored other forms of identification, such as the driver’s license and Ghana Card, which I provided,” he said.
The MP’s petition initially sought investigations into allegations of multiple identities, conflict of interest, and alleged criminal activities tied to Rev. Kusi Boateng’s role as Secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees.
Despite CHRAJ’s findings, Mr. Ablakwa maintains that the evidence points to unresolved issues, raising further questions about the transparency of the investigation.
