A court in Accra has fined a 46-year-old driver GHS960 or in default, serve an eight-week jail term for destroying the fence wall of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Nima residence.
Antaru Issaka was charged with careless and inconsiderate driving and causing damage.
He was also slapped with the charges of driving without a license, use of a motor vehicle with an expired roadworthy certificate among others.
Isaaka pleaded guilty to all the charges, Ghana News Agency (GNA) reported.
He was thus convicted on his own plea and sentenced by the court presided over by Ama Adomako Kwakye.
Isaaka, a mechanic was driving a Mercedes-Benz ML 320 with registration number GS 5885 Z when the incident happened on May 15, 2021.
The brake of the vehicle allegedly failed and to avoid hitting the vehicles in front of him, he veered off the road and rammed into the fence wall of the president’s house.
The accused was found to be an unlicensed driver during the investigation.
