Ghana’s U-15 girls team, the Black Damsels, have successfully defended their CAF African Schools Football Championship title after defeating Burkina Faso in a dramatic final.
The match, played in Harare, ended goalless after regulation time, with both teams putting up a strong defensive performance. The game was eventually decided by penalties, where Ghana edged Burkina Faso 10–9 in a tense shootout.
The Black Damsels displayed dominance throughout the tournament. They opened the group stage with a 6–0 win over Guinea, followed it with a 2–1 victory against Tanzania, and suffered a narrow 1–0 loss to Burkina Faso.
In the semi-final, Ghana secured a 1–0 win over Zambia, with Blessing Tettey scoring the decisive early goal to send the team to the final.
Despite losing to Burkina Faso earlier in the competition, the team returned stronger in the final to claim victory when it mattered most.
This win marks back-to-back titles for Ghana, following their triumph in the 2025 edition held in Accra. Under head coach Sandra Boakye, the team has shown consistency, discipline, and strong mental resilience.
The victory highlights the continued growth of women’s football in Ghana and reflects the country’s investment in grassroots development, positioning the Black Damsels as a promising force for the future.
