The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference has called for a more respectful and meaningful national conversation on LGBTQ+ issues and family values, urging key stakeholders to promote unity instead of division.

In a public statement, the Bishops appealed to the government, Parliament, traditional leaders, religious bodies, and civil society to engage in discussions rooted in mutual respect, moral clarity, and trust-building.

They emphasized that the tone of public discourse is just as important as the message itself, cautioning that careless or dismissive language could harm national cohesion and increase divisions among citizens.

According to the Conference, ongoing debates surrounding marriage, family, and social values require serious and responsible participation from all sectors of society.

The Bishops clarified that their intention is not to impose views but to contribute constructively to national discussions, offering perspectives based on conscience, scripture, and reason.

They expressed confidence that patient and thoughtful dialogue can allow truth to prevail without force or coercion.

The statement further noted that Ghana is at a critical stage where economic progress intersects with moral identity, warning that decisions made now will have lasting impacts on future generations.
