President Mahama Arrives in Lyon for Global Health Summit, Macron Talks

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lyon, France, to take part in the 2026 One Health Summit, where he is expected to engage in high-level discussions alongside Emmanuel Macron.

According to reports, President Mahama touched down in the French city on Easter Monday and was warmly welcomed by members of the Ghanaian community living in Lyon. Families gathered to receive him ahead of the global summit.

The One Health Summit brings together heads of state, health ministers, and international experts to discuss strengthening global health systems, sustainable food production, and coordinated responses to emerging health threats. Key themes include pandemic preparedness, climate-related health risks, and cross-border disease control.

President Mahama is scheduled to co-chair the summit’s high-level segment with President Macron, highlighting Ghana’s growing role in global health diplomacy and international cooperation.

After the summit proceedings in Lyon, he will travel to Paris for bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana–France relations in areas such as health, trade, investment, education, and regional security.
