The Ghana national football team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Germany national football team in an international friendly played in Stuttgart on Monday night.
The result marks Ghana’s second consecutive loss, following a heavy 5-1 defeat to the Austria national football team just days earlier, raising concerns ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
Germany took the lead deep into first-half stoppage time when Kai Havertz calmly converted a penalty in the 45+3rd minute, giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
The Black Stars returned with renewed energy after the break and found an equaliser in the 70th minute through Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who finished neatly after an assist from Dennis Kohn to make it 1-1.
With the game appearing to be heading for a draw, Germany struck late to seal victory. In the 88th minute, Deniz Undav scored from close range following a well-timed setup by Leroy Sané, handing the hosts a 2-1 win.
Despite the defeat, Ghana showed signs of improvement, displaying better organisation and attacking intent compared to their previous outing. However, defensive lapses and missed opportunities once again proved costly.
The back-to-back losses are likely to prompt serious reflection within the technical team, as Ghana seeks to strengthen its defensive discipline and overall consistency ahead of future international competitions.
