The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old digital marketer for allegedly threatening an Uber driver with a toy gun during a dispute over transport fare at Aplaku.
The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Selasi Johnson Edze, reportedly hired an Uber driver for a trip from the China Mall to his residence in Aplaku on March 2, 2026.
According to police, the complainant stated that during the journey the suspect requested a stop near the Weija SCC to purchase food. The delay later resulted in a disagreement over the transport fare.
Upon arriving at his residence in Aplaku, the suspect allegedly refused to pay the fare. Police say he then entered his room and returned with a replica Beretta toy pistol, which he used to threaten the driver.
The driver quickly reported the incident to the police, prompting officers from the Ghana Police Service to respond to the scene. The suspect was arrested immediately, and a search of his room led to the retrieval of the toy firearm.
Jeffrey Selasi Johnson Edze is currently assisting with investigations and is expected to be charged in court.
Police have warned the public that threatening or intimidating people with toy guns or imitation weapons is unlawful and can lead to arrest and prosecution.
