The Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko, has called on the government to provide detailed justification for the revocation of 541 public sector appointments made under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr Darko described the decision to uphold 1,201 of the appointments as a vindication of the previous administration. However, he questioned why 541 appointments were deemed not to have met the required threshold.
He argued that the government must clearly outline the specific procedural breaches cited in revoking the appointments and explain which aspects of the law were allegedly violated.
The review followed concerns raised after the December 7, 2024 general elections regarding recruitments carried out during the transition period. A Special Committee established by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, examined the appointments.
Out of 2,080 appointments initially cancelled over claims that proper civil service recruitment procedures may have been bypassed, the committee reinstated 1,201 and maintained the revocation of 541.
Mr Darko has insisted that transparency is necessary to ensure accountability and public confidence in the recruitment process.
