The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has confirmed that no Ghanaian has been killed or injured amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following a virtual meeting with Ghana’s envoys in the region, Mr. Ablakwa said the government has taken proactive measures to assess the situation and reinforce consular protection for Ghanaian nationals.
He explained that he convened a meeting with Ambassadors and Consuls General serving in Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Turkey to review recent developments and explore additional interventions to safeguard citizens.
According to him, a comprehensive and reliable database has been compiled, covering Ghanaians residing in the affected countries, those on short-term visits, and individuals in transit.
The Minister added that all diplomatic missions have been directed to identify citizens who may wish to be evacuated for urgent consideration by the government. He further disclosed that Ghana’s missions are currently assisting a number of nationals to exit through strategic border crossings.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasised that the safety and welfare of Ghanaians remain the government’s top priority, assuring that authorities will continue to monitor developments closely as tensions persist in the region.
