
The Ministry of Health has announced the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College in Nalerigu over alleged unauthorised admissions.
According to a press release dated February 27, 2026, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, directed the suspension during his working visit to the Upper East, North-East and Northern Regions. The visit formed part of efforts to assess operations and service delivery at health facilities and training institutions.
The Minister was earlier briefed about irregular admissions at the Nalerigu Nurses and Midwifery Training College. Following preliminary findings during his visit to the school, he ordered the immediate suspension of the Head of the College pending further investigations.
He emphasised that strict adherence to established admission protocols is non-negotiable and warned that any head of institution found engaging in unauthorised practices would face sanctions.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the maintenance of high standards in health training institutions across the country.
