The Gbese District Court has once again denied bail to Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, widely known as Abu Trica, following his re-arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the court ordered that Kumi remain in police custody as extradition proceedings against him to the United States continue. The case has been adjourned to March 18, 2026, for further hearing.

Abu Trica was re-arrested shortly after he and his co-accused were previously discharged by the same court in relation to an indictment by U.S. authorities over an alleged $8 million romance scam targeting elderly Americans.

The alleged scheme, which drew international attention, accused Kumi and others of orchestrating fraudulent online activities. Although the court did not disclose specific reasons for his latest re-arrest, he is expected to remain in custody until his next appearance.
