
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has held talks with the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban, on strengthening bilateral cooperation to combat cybercrime.

The meeting, held in Accra on February 16, 2026, focused on addressing the high incidence of Nigerians implicated in cybercrime activities in Ghana and reviewing the outcomes of Ghana’s recent crackdown on digital fraud.

Discussions centred on enhancing collaboration between Ghanaian and Nigerian authorities to safeguard the digital space and prevent cross-border cybercrime.
Ambassador Iban expressed concern over the recent arrests and pledged to work toward addressing the root causes of cybercrime, while emphasising the need to protect law-abiding Nigerians residing in Ghana. He also stressed the importance of strengthening border security and promoting responsible conduct among citizens.

The High Commissioner underscored the long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Nigeria, urging Nigerians in Ghana to act as good ambassadors of their country.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in tackling cybercrime and promoting a secure and resilient digital environment.
