The Government of Ghana has confirmed a terrorist attack on a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders in northern Burkina Faso.
According to official information from authorities in Burkina Faso, the traders were travelling through the town of Titao on Saturday, February 14, 2026, when their vehicle came under attack.
Details surrounding the incident, including possible casualties and injuries, are yet to be officially confirmed.
In response, Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso has begun engaging local authorities to gather comprehensive information. In a statement issued on Sunday, February 15, the Embassy said it is coordinating efforts to visit the attack site to ascertain the identities and condition of any Ghanaians involved.
Officials have assured the public that steps are being taken to establish the facts and provide the necessary support to affected individuals and their families.
In a separate statement, the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, confirmed that the truck carrying the traders was caught in a terrorist incident in Titao.
He noted that the Ghana Embassy is liaising with Burkinabe authorities to visit the scene and identify Ghanaians affected by the attack, adding that further updates will be communicated to the public as more information becomes available.
