Volta Region: One dead, 16 injured in Peki Tsame road accident

One person has died and 16 others sustained injuries following a road accident at Peki Tsame near Mawutor Inn on the Peki–Asikuma highway in the Volta Region.

The crash involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GT 7012-24, which reportedly suffered a rear tyre burst and somersaulted.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Friday, February 13, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said personnel from the Peki Fire Station, led by ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, responded promptly to the distress call and rescued trapped victims from the wreckage.

The injured passengers, comprising eight males, seven females, and one child were handed over to the National Ambulance Service and transported to the Peki Government Hospital for treatment.

According to the GNFS, one of the victims later died at the hospital, while the remaining casualties are reported to be in stable condition.
