The government has reduced the cocoa producer price to GH¢41,392 per tonne, equivalent to GH¢2,587 per bag, for the remainder of the 2025/2026 crop season.

The decision, approved by the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), takes effect from Thursday, February 12, 2026.

Speaking at a press briefing, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said the adjustment was influenced by prevailing conditions on the international cocoa market. According to him, the revision reflects current global price trends and aims to restore stability and confidence within the cocoa sector.

He added that the new rate is expected to inject liquidity into the cocoa value chain, accelerate payments to farmers who have experienced delays in recent months, and ease financial pressures at the farm level.

The Minister described the price cut as part of broader reforms to ensure the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa industry.

“As a result of that, the PPRC hereby announces that effective today, Thursday 12th February 2026, the new producer price for the remainder of the 2025–2026 crop season will now be 41,392 Ghana Cedis per ton and 2,587 Ghana Cedis per bag,” he stated.

The revised price marks a reduction from the initial rate announced at the start of the 2025/26 crop season, which was set at GH¢51,660 per tonne (GH¢3,228.75 per bag), equivalent to US$5,040 per tonne, a 62.58 percent increase in dollar terms at the time.
