FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has officially resigned from his position to enable him to contest the club’s upcoming Board of Directors elections scheduled for March 15.
The resignation was formalised during an ordinary meeting of the club’s Board of Directors held on Monday, at which the official call for elections was also approved and published.
Alongside Laporta, several members of the current board have stepped down in order to participate in the electoral process. Those who resigned include vice president for the Institutional Area, Elena Fort; vice president for the Social Area, Antonio Escudero; and board members Ferran Olivé, Josep Maria Albert, Javier Barbany, Miquel Camps, Aureli Mas, Javier Puig, Joan Soler and Ferré.
Following the resignations, the Board of Directors will continue to carry out its duties until the end of its mandate on June 30, albeit in a reconfigured form.
Under the interim arrangement, the club’s highest governing body will be led by Rafael Yuste as president, with Josep Cubells serving as vice president and secretary. Alfons Castro will act as treasurer, while Josep Ignasi Macià, Àngel Riudalbas, Joan Solé i Sust and Sisco Pujol will serve as board members.
After the changes were formally completed, the newly constituted board proceeded with the meeting in line with the approved agenda.
