Three armed robbers who attacked and robbed travellers on the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta road have each been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Mr. Appiatu, convicted Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. The sentencing took place on October 27, 2025.
According to the prosecution, the trio carried out their attack at Fiankoma near Jacobu on April 29, 2024, robbing their victims of two iPhones and GH₵7,000 in cash. They also compelled one of the victims, a Chinese national, to transfer GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.
Following months of intelligence-led operations, police arrested the suspects between June and September 2024. A search at Boadi’s residence in Obuasi Bogobiri uncovered a foreign Bruni pistol, a locally made pistol, and ammunition, which were used as evidence during the trial.
The Ghana Police Service has since commended its investigative team for their professionalism and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all criminals face the full rigour of the law.
