Bawumia visits Rawlings family, signs Nana Konadu’s book of condolence

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a visit to the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to offer his condolences and sign the book of condolence.

Accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, former Education and Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and former Works and Housing Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Dr. Bawumia’s visit underscored the deep respect and recognition for Nana Konadu’s lifelong service to the nation.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. As Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, she championed women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development through her advocacy and leadership. Her passing has sparked tributes from political leaders, social activists, and citizens across the country.

During his visit on Monday, October 27, Dr. Bawumia expressed his sympathies to the Rawlings family, commending Nana Konadu’s legacy as a visionary leader who worked tirelessly to uplift women and communities.

Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, Elikem Kotoko, also reflected on the nation’s tendency to celebrate remarkable individuals only after their passing. He described Nana Konadu as a trailblazer whose efforts deserved greater recognition during her lifetime.
