Residents suspect the incident is linked to the long-standing Bawku conflict, which has led to numerous deaths and mass displacements since it began in November 2021.

In a related incident, reports indicate that a mentally challenged man was shot dead by military personnel at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, further escalating tensions in the conflict-prone area.

Security agencies have not yet issued an official statement regarding either attack.
