Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, begin a nationwide campaign tour as part of his efforts to secure the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A statement released by the Bawumia Campaign Team on Tuesday, October 14, said the tour will cover all 276 constituencies and is aimed at deepening grassroots engagement and strengthening the party’s structures ahead of the presidential primaries.
The statement noted that the campaign tour will provide Dr. Bawumia with an opportunity to interact directly with polling station and electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, former Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs, patrons, and members of the Council of Elders. It added that the tour demonstrates Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to listening to party members, building consensus, and fortifying the NPP’s foundation from the ground up.
“Dr. Bawumia looks forward to sharing his vision and collectively working towards a resounding victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” the statement said.
The campaign team also called for an issue-based and civil campaign, expressing concern over the growing trend of personal attacks and insults within party communications. It noted that such conduct is not in the spirit of the NPP and runs counter to the values of unity, respect, and decency that the party upholds.
Supporters, communicators, and volunteers of the Bawumia Campaign were urged to refrain from personal attacks and derogatory remarks against other aspirants, their families, or their supporters. The statement emphasized that campaign engagements should be grounded in facts, comparative analysis of ideas, and the track records of aspirants, focusing on policies, competence, and electability.
“As we seek to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, we must remember that our goal is party unity and national progress. Communications that sow division and create lasting animosity only serve to weaken our collective front,” the statement cautioned.
It concluded by expressing confidence that Dr. Bawumia’s vision, experience, and policy ideas will resonate strongly with delegates when the campaign debate remains focused on issues. The statement was signed by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Communications Director of the Bawumia Campaign.
