35-year-old Teacher Dies in New Edubiase House Fire

A 35-year-old teacher, Theophilus Ofori Amanfo, has died after a fire gutted his home at New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Mr. Ofori, who taught at New Edubiase D/A Junior High School ‘B’, had recently been transferred from Ponkoase D/A Basic School, also located within the district.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Presiding Member for the Adansi South District, Cosmos Darkwah Amoah, said the teacher’s two-bedroom residence was completely destroyed by the fire.

“He was recently transferred to the school. We got information that there was a fire at his residence, so we rushed to the place and realised the two-bedroom house had been burnt down,” he recounted.

He added that the police and fire service personnel responded swiftly to the scene and conveyed the body to the morgue.

“The cause of the death is not known. The police are investigating the matter; maybe they will give us feedback today, Wednesday, October 8,” he noted.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue, while investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
