The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has confirmed that it is working with the Ghana Police Service to arrest the dismissed Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, following allegations of misconduct involving a female student.
The assurance was given by the sector Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, during a working visit by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the ministry on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Updating the Vice President on the matter, Dr. Lartey stated:
“The recent one is the report of the female student at KNUST with the assistant headmaster. Even though GES through the school dismissed him, we are collaborating with the police to effect the arrest of the perpetrator.”
Mr. Aidoo, who served as the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST SHS, was removed from office on September 29, 2025 by the Ghana Education Service (GES) after a viral video allegedly showed him in a compromising situation with a minor.
The Gender Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to child protection and safeguarding vulnerable groups, stressing that all perpetrators of abuse will face the full rigours of the law.
