Children of Helicopter Crash Victims Granted Full Scholarships

The children of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash have been awarded full scholarships to support their education.

The announcement was made at a ceremony held at the Office of the Chief of Staff, where Julius Debrah received the scholarship offer on behalf of the bereaved families.

The initiative, a collaboration between B5 Plus Group and DPS International School, will provide two children from each affected family with full scholarships to study at DPS International School in Tema. The package covers tuition fees, uniforms, boarding facilities where required, and all costs from basic school through A-Levels.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah commended the gesture as a strong display of private sector commitment to nation-building and social responsibility.

Former Attorney-General and Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, also praised the initiative, highlighting the long-term impact of investing in the children’s education. She noted that DPS International has an excellent academic record, citing one of its alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, son of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is currently studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.

She added that the initiative would be warmly welcomed by the President as a meaningful tribute to the lives lost in the tragic accident.
