Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that members of the Black Stars Management Committee will no longer receive winning bonuses.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry on Monday, Adams explained that the decision was taken as part of efforts to streamline the budget for Ghana’s national men’s football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He revealed that although the budget per game was initially set at $1 million, the Ministry approved a combined figure of $1.3 million to cover two matches. However, the allocation of $10,000 in winning bonuses for each Management Committee member has been scrapped.
“Black Stars players will continue to receive a winning bonus of $5,000 for the qualifiers, but committee members will not be entitled to such allowances,” he clarified.
The Black Stars Management Committee is chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, with former team captain Stephen Appiah serving as Vice President.
Ghana will face Chad on September 4 before hosting Mali on September 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
