2026 WCQ: Black Stars Open Camp With 12 Players Ahead of Chad, Mali Clashes

The Black Stars began preparations for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 1, 2025.

A total of 12 players reported to camp and took part in the session, which marks the official opening of the team’s build-up to crucial Group I encounters against Chad and Mali. The squad will hold a final training session on Tuesday before departing for N’Djamena.

Among the early arrivals were Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Ibrahim Osman, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jerry Afriyie, Joseph Anang, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Benjamin Asare, Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Sulemana, Jordan Ayew, and Gideon Mensah.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that the remaining players are expected to join camp by Monday night, with winger Joseph Paintsil scheduled to link up with the squad on Tuesday morning.

Ghana will face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.

The Black Stars currently lead Group I with 15 points from six matches, boosting their hopes of qualifying for a fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
