The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that 99 senior high schools previously operating under the double-track system have reverted to the traditional single-track arrangement.
According to GES, the development follows increased budgetary allocations to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, supported by a dedicated source of funding.
GES Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, said the decision will help reduce congestion in schools, enhance academic planning, and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In a related move, government has directed that, starting in 2025, all districts use resources from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to construct Nursery, Primary, and Junior High Schools. The initiative aims to expand access to quality basic education nationwide.
