The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened registration for additional categories of delegates ahead of its presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
In a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, the party explained that the decision follows transitional provisions adopted at the National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on July 19, 2025.
The new categories include all former regional and constituency executives, past national officers, members of the National Council of Elders and Patrons, external branch executives, TESCON leaders, as well as former card-bearing Members of Parliament, ministers, and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Qualified members have been instructed to register with their respective party structures at the national, regional, constituency, or external branch level. For external branches, an online registration platform will be provided.
The deadline for registration is Friday, September 19, 2025, after which the Presidential Elections Committee will conduct verification and validation of the register to guarantee transparency and credibility.
The party emphasized that the initiative reflects its commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and transparency in the conduct of its internal elections.
