Ghana’s Ambassador-Designate to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has refuted claims that his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama was politically motivated or linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Channel One’s *Face to Face* with Umaru Sanda on August 12, Choi stressed that his professional work and relationships span across political lines and that his selection was based solely on competence.
“I have never been political. I know a lot of people in the NPP. For example, our company PaySwitch was launched by Dr. Bawumia because of his interest in digitalisation, not politics,” he explained.
He also highlighted that former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo attended the opening of his art gallery due to her passion for art and her desire to support his vision of promoting emerging artists.
Choi maintained that he has friends in both the NPP and NDC, but has “never lobbied or sponsored” political causes. “I have always been a quiet entrepreneur,” he stated.
