Two Arrested Over Viral TikTok Death Threats Against Mahama and First Lady

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with a viral TikTok video containing threats against President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

In a statement on August 12, the Police confirmed that the widely circulated video features remarks deemed a direct threat to the lives of the President and his spouse. The suspects, identified as Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

Authorities disclosed that efforts are underway to track down other individuals believed to be involved in the creation and distribution of the video.

“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety of the President, the First Lady, and all citizens,” the statement read, urging the public to avoid making or sharing content that could incite violence or disrupt public order.

Police have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security while investigations continue.
