Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from popular dancehall musician Shatta Wale during a joint operation with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ).

The operation, which took place in June 2025 at Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley Phase 1 residence, was part of an international probe into financial crimes. EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) conducted the seizure following a 2023 request from U.S. authorities.

The luxury car was reportedly purchased with proceeds from fraudulent activities by Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian currently imprisoned in the United States and serving an 86-month sentence for multiple financial crimes. Investigators traced ownership of the Lamborghini to Shatta Wale.

According to EOCO, the search and seizure were conducted professionally and without resistance. Shatta Wale reportedly appealed to officers not to publicize the incident, citing fears of reputational damage due to the vehicle’s importance to his brand. He voluntarily handed over the car, which is now held in EOCO’s custody.

The agency emphasized that arming officers during such operations is standard for ensuring safety. A formal request is expected from the U.S. through a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) arrangement for the Lamborghini’s repatriation, contributing to a \$4.7 million restitution tied to Amuah’s case.

EOCO also disclosed that both Shatta Wale and a former senior official of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) have been identified as persons of interest and are likely to be invited for questioning as investigations continue. The final report may be shared with U.S. authorities as part of international collaboration.
