Vera Akosua Asare, 29, has been rearrested by police following the death of her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Omane, whom she allegedly attacked with acid in Koforidua earlier this year.

The tragic incident occurred after tensions rose in their relationship, which had reportedly become strained over suspicions that Daniel, a 29-year-old mobile phone dealer, was involved with other women. Vera, who had moved in with Daniel after giving birth to their now two-year-old daughter, allegedly poured acid on him while he was asleep in his room.

Daniel Omane sustained life-threatening injuries and was initially rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital. He was later transferred to the Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery Center at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for specialized care. Despite efforts by medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the attack, Vera Asare attempted to flee but was apprehended by co-tenants who heard the victim’s screams. She was handed over to the police and later granted bail by the court to care for her child.

With the victim now deceased, authorities have rearrested Vera Asare, and the case is expected to take a more serious legal turn, possibly facing upgraded charges.
