Court Dismisses Ofori-Atta’s Challenge to Arrest Warrant Issued by Special Prosecutor

The High Court has dismissed an application by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to nullify an arrest warrant issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Ofori-Atta’s legal team had asked the court to declare the warrant and all related enforcement measures including a request for an Interpol Red Notice unlawful. They argued that the OSP overstepped its legal mandate and failed to follow due process in obtaining the warrant.

However, the court ruled on Thursday that the application was without merit and upheld the actions of the Special Prosecutor. The judge dismissed the case entirely, reinforcing the legitimacy of the OSP’s procedures.

This development marks another chapter in the ongoing legal battle between Ofori-Atta and the anti-corruption body, which has launched investigations into allegations of procurement breaches and mismanagement of public funds during his tenure as Finance Minister.

Ofori-Atta has failed to respond to several summonses from the OSP, citing medical treatment abroad. In June, the OSP declared him a wanted individual and initiated the process to involve Interpol in securing his arrest.
