The Presidency has assured the family and management of the late highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, that he will be given a befitting burial to honour his immense contribution to Ghana’s music and creative arts industry.

The assurance comes in response to growing public calls for a state funeral for the celebrated musician, who passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while receiving treatment at the Bank Hospital in Accra. He was 60 years old.

Speaking to Channel One News on Sunday, July 27, the late musician’s lead manager, Philip Kwabena Agyemang Appiah-Kubi widely known in the entertainment industry as Roman Fada confirmed that the Presidency has expressed its willingness to honour Daddy Lumba appropriately.

Discussions are currently ongoing regarding funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in from fans, fellow musicians, and industry stakeholders who are mourning the loss of one of Ghana’s most influential and beloved musical icons.

Daddy Lumba’s legacy, built over three decades of powerful highlife music and cultural impact, is expected to be celebrated nationally in the coming days.
