The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two individuals in connection with violent incidents that disrupted the parliamentary re-run in the Ablekuma North Constituency on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 23, and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the suspects were identified as Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old Station Manager at STC, and Ali Saeed, popularly known as *Mboma*, a 43-year-old businessman.
Both suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations into assaults and disturbances reported at several polling centers during the re-run election.
The by-election, held to elect a Member of Parliament for the constituency, was marred by chaos and raised concerns among the public and civil society about the safety and integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
The Police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved in election-related violence are held accountable.
“We urge the public to continue cooperating with the Police and to share credible information,” the statement read. .
