Kusasi Chief Shot Dead at Home in Asawase, Police Launch Investigation

The Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, who also served as the Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, has been shot and killed by unidentified gunmen.

The tragic incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre. According to eyewitnesses, two assailants arrived at the scene on a motorbike around 8:40 pm. One of them, armed with an AK-47 rifle, reportedly fired multiple shots at the chief before they sped away.

Azenbe, who had been enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months ago, was initially taken to the Manhyia District Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In response to the incident, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, paid a visit to the chief’s family the same evening. He offered condolences and assured them that police have launched a full-scale investigation to apprehend those responsible.
