Three Suspects Arrested For Robbery Attack On Gold Transport Vehicle At Jukwa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with a robbery attack involving gold concentrate at Jukwa, near Afransie, in the Western Region.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 15, when a Toyota Hilux pickup with registration number GT 7426-23, transporting gold concentrate from a mining site to Wassa Akropong, was ambushed by armed assailants. The vehicle’s occupants at the time included the driver, Kofi Gyamfi, a security guard named Bashiru, and another unidentified individual.

According to a police statement, the robbers intercepted the vehicle near Jukwa and made away with the gold concentrate.

A swift response by the Police led to the arrest of suspect Foster Peprah, a known small-scale miner, at the crime scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that Peprah had orchestrated the robbery with the help of an accomplice identified as Isaac, who remains at large.

During interrogation, Peprah implicated Kofi Gyamfi, the driver of the vehicle, as the person who invited them to carry out the heist. Gyamfi was later arrested and, in turn, accused the security guard, Bashiru, of being the mastermind behind the plan.

Following this lead, Bashiru was apprehended at his hideout in Wassa Gyedua.

All three suspects Foster Peprah, Kofi Gyamfi, and Bashiru.are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the fourth suspect, Isaac.

The Western Central Regional Police Command has assured the public of their commitment to bringing all those involved to justice and urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the fugitive to report to the nearest police station.
