The Accra Regional Police Command has outlined a series of security measures ahead of the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025. In a press release signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the police assured the general public of its preparedness to maintain peace and order throughout the electoral process.

According to the release, nineteen polling stations within the constituency have been designated by the Electoral Commission for the re-run. Police personnel will be deployed across all locations to ensure a safe and secure voting environment.

In addition to securing the polling stations, the police will also be monitoring vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around the voting areas. The statement indicated that strategic barriers will be mounted to prevent unauthorized access to polling centers, thereby improving the overall security and flow of activity during the election.

The police command further appealed to the public to cooperate fully with security personnel, observe all electoral regulations, and help create a peaceful atmosphere throughout the voting period.

Residents and voters were also encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police using the emergency numbers 18555 or 192.

The Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run follows disputes over the authenticity of results from several polling stations during the 2024 general election. The Electoral Commission subsequently scheduled the re-run to uphold electoral integrity and ensure that constituents are fairly represented in Parliament.
